To all Mount Air Improvement Corp. (MAIC) Shareholders,

We are very happy to announce that at a public hearing on Monday, February 11th, Franklin County Court of Common Pleas Judge Daniel R. Hawkins ordered the creation of the "Mount Air Water District" which includes the unincorporated areas of Mount Air plus those properties that are in the city of Columbus but are currently served by the MAIC water System . This is an important step for us as it creates the entity that has standing to apply to funding agencies and that can contract with Delco for the creation of the replacement water system that we are working toward.

Although it is an important step, it is really a starting point that enables us to  bring together a concrete plan for the funding and creation of the new system.  The Sharon Township Board of Trustees will now appoint board members to the Water District who will be responsible for bringing that plan to fruition.  We expect the initial appointments to happen at the Trustee meeting on Wednesday February 20th, 6:30pm at the Sharon Township Hall.

We thank all of you who responded with your support of this project.  That community support was very important in achieving the creation of the Water District.  A special thank you is also due to the Sharon Township Board of Trustees who understood our need, authorized the creation of the Water District, and engaged knowledgeable legal council with the expertise needed to make this happen. Your MAIC board will continue to work closely with the new Water District and Sharon Township to achieve the long term solution that we want and need.

Thanks,

Bill Ash

Chair, Mount Air Improvement Corporation

November 13th Mount Air Community Meeting

Thanks to ALL the Mount Air residents who came out to support the Delco Water Project. We had a tremendous turnout and show of support, which is absolutely necessary if we are going to get funding and move forward.

The Delco Water connection opportunity presented at this meeting is the result of the long range planning efforts that the Mount Air Improvement Corporation Board of Directors has been pursuing and has discussed at Annual Shareholders meetings for the past several years. The commitment of the Sharon Township Trustees to assist our community in bringing about a long range water solution has brought those plans much closer to a reality.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND THAT THE DELCO PROJECT IS INTENDED TO REPLACE THE CURRENT MOUNT AIR COMMUNITY WELL AND DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM WHICH WILL BE SHUT DOWN WHEN THE DELCO PROJECT IS COMPLETED.

  • Whether your home is on an individual well or connected to the community well*, we will need to hear from EVERY HOME in Mount Air about intent to connect to the new water infrastructure at/after this meeting.  Cost, scope, and funding assistance resources are dependent on accurate engineering drawings which in turn depend on knowing the intent of properties to connect.

  • THIS IS ABOUT THE FUTURE OF OUR COMMUNITY!! If you did not attend, we will need to reach each of you to discuss by end of November 2018. You will want to know your options, timelines and next steps
